War In The Marianas

 Last Command Post:

During the Second World War from 1939 to 1945, the 4th Marine Division took control of a bunker in San Roque, located in the Matuis Drive Islands of the Northern Marianas Saipan, on July 9, 1944, after a fierce battle. This was the last Japanese command post on Saipan. The area was directly hit by an American battleship's shell, creating a large hole in the bunker.
